Distractions

Hey y’all!

We apologize for not doing A&A and the Weekly Verses on time. We were in bible study, (on Don’t Waste Your Life, by John Piper) and I realized that most of the excuses I had were pathetic. In the chapter, Piper talks about wasting time… I never really thought about all the time I spend blogging, being on the internet, watching TV, and doing things that are just not productive. Although blogging isn’t bad in perspective, it does eat up your time. Although there are godly ways to spend your time, I personally don’t like to dwell on the fact that I waste time, but I have to be realistic: I waste time ALL the time, and I end up not doing the things I need to do. I need to have lunch with reality and get used to the fact that, although I like doing it, watching TV isn’t productive. It’s mainly a distraction from the more important things in life. We are not saying that watching TV is bad, -and this is really confusing to me even after having a long discussion about it-, we’re saying that (and this is one of the main points Piper makes) we are not to store up treasures on earth, instead, we need to do what’s important, lay down our lives for each other and pick up our crosses. All the bad excuses I make are just cover-ups for what is really going on in my heart, and I pray that I, (Melody and Karen included) will be diligent and do the things we say we will. My prayer for all of us is that we, as sister-in-Christ, will take up our crosses and follow Christ.
